RUSHING THROUGH LIFE
Are you one of those people who wakes up in the morning and rushes to work without even having a cup of coffee or tea? When was the last time that you enjoyed having a relaxing time with your spouse or close friend? Or when was the last time that you heard a little birdie singing and stopped to listen to it? Have you enjoyed the joy of feeling rain drops on your face?
With the today’s life pace it seems impossible to do so. Everybody is in rush to get to work or someplace else.
“We are always getting ready to live but never living.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
If we think of our lives as a journey then, if we rush in life, we will miss the scenery. We have forgotten to live in the present and enjoy the present time. So, how can we avoid this rushing through life?
“It is important from time to time to slow down, to go away by yourself, and simply be.” ~ Eileen Caddy
There are some ways that we can follow and simply “ be” in life.
If you decide to do so many things all together then you definitely get a shortage of time. This can be one reason why we rush because we don’t want to lose time. Therefore, to avoid this we can make a plan to do only the important things needed for the day.Do less and slow down.
Plan your day:
So, we said slow down. Is it possible? Yes. By planning your day ahead you can divide your day based on your time in hand and the tasks you have. When you know what to do and when to do it then you don’t have to worry about losing time.
Do one thing at a time:
Never try to do many things together. If you are watching TV just watch TV and enjoy it. If you are working then turn off everything else and just focus on your job. Multitasking gets your concentration away and you feel you have to hurry for everything.
Take out time for yourself:
Take out a few minutes a day for yourself too. Even 15 minutes a day to go within and just enjoy the fact that you are doing great and loving your life is a good way to find peace within yourself. Do whatever makes you happy and relaxed; like listening to music, dancing, reading a book, giving a chocolate to your loved ones…
Learn to give up:
Sometimes when we have too many things to do and we feel frustrated then it’s good to be able to give up on doing something so we don’t stretch ourselves out for doing all the tasks.
Learn to say no:
It happens for all of us that a plan is made or simply we have to do something that we don’t enjoy at all. If it doesn’t hurt anybody or anything just say no to it. remember we are not supposed to make everybody happy. Sometimes the important person whom we should make happy is ourselves.
Live in the moment:
Don’t forget to live in the present. Enjoy the moment. Do anything that makes YOU happy. Do whatever you do with love and passion.
“When you calm your body & your emotions, you restore yourself, and restore peace to the world around you.” ~ Thich Nhat Hanh
So, when we say do something for yourself it is not a selfish action. On the other hand according to Thich you are doing something nice for the world.
“You’re only here for a short visit. Don’t hurry, don’t worry. And be sure to smell the flowers along the way.” ~ Walter Hagen
