FOODS THAT ARE BAD FOR DIABETES
We know that diabetes should not have high glucose level in their blood. Therefore, there is some certain food that is harmful to them. The followings are the ones that should be avoided by them.
Not only candies cause a dramatic spike in blood sugar levels but they contribute to weight gain that can worsen diabetes complications. If you want to satisfy your thirst for sweets then have some fresh fruit such apples, berries, pears, grapes, and oranges.
You may think that they are not that harmful to your health but if you look at the ingredients then you will see that the white flour, yeast, salt and corn syrup present in the product cannot be so much healthy. Pretzels are not fried but baked which saves you a few calories, but the white, refined carbs do a number of your blood sugar. Instead of having a fist full of pretzels have a handful of pistachio nuts in the shell or a nonfat Greek yogurt.
Snack Cakes and Pastries
We all know that packaged snacks and baked goods are loaded with sugar. Therefore, they cannot be a good choice for diabetes. Also, the fat inside of these snacks and pastries can increase your cholesterol too. Check labels carefully; always choose packaged products that list 0 grams trans-fat and do not include any partially hydrogenated oils (a major source of trans fats) on the ingredients panel.
Bacon is a food with high amount of fat, so watch out for that. It can cause your cholesterol level go high that can cause heart disease too. Instead of having bacon try to have a plate filled with lean protein like skinless chicken and turkey, fish and shellfish.
Milk is necessary for our body but for diabetes, the whole milk is not good. Instead use 1% (low-fat) or skim (non-fat) milk. Also, from the dairy products avoid having cream, full-fat yogurt, regular cheese and cream cheese, instead, choose their reduced-fat counterparts whenever possible.
French Fries, potato chips, and doughnuts are particularly bad choices for diabetics because they’re made with carb-heavy, starchy ingredients, which can cause blood glucose levels to shoot up. Therefore, they should be avoided altogether for diabetes.
Pancakes and Syrup
Diabetes should avoid having a plate of pancakes with syrup for breakfast. It’s not only the pancake itself which is unhealthy for the patients but the toppings make matters worse. The starch and sugar overload will send your blood sugars into a tailspin.
Dried fruits like raisins have a high level of sugar because of the dehydration. Therefore, diabetes should stick to using fresh fruit instead of dried ones like raisins.
Diabetes is a disease that can be controlled by having a healthy nutrition and here was the food that should be avoided to stay healthy and away from the complications.
