It happens sometimes that you read something many times but you just can’t keep concentrating on the text being read. It can be either a view out of the window or just a noise bothering you to many other distractions around you. So, how can you keep your concentration? Here are some hints that may come handy to you.

Rest well:

If you want to concentrate very well on matters, your brain and mind should rest properly. Tiredness can cause your mind to scatter. Have a regular sleeping time, because too much sleeping is not good either; it makes you sluggish and lazy.

Make a plan:

Always have a plan on your hand to know what you are going to do exactly. You don’t want to wonder around and not knowing what to do. This also makes you away from the distracting activities that come to you like checking emails or texting.Make sure that you have enough time for entertainment, studies (if any) and sleep.


Nowadays most of the people know about the effect of meditation on concentration. A daily meditation program is a big help for concentration.

Stay in a suitable place for your concentration:

Too much noise or too many people coming and going can cause you troubles with making your concentration. Therefore, choose a place that doesn’t have any distraction and not too many people are coming and going all the time. Usually, libraries, private rooms or study lounges can be good places.

If you want to master the arts of concentration, develop a controlled and balanced diet:

Overeating creates a huge load of digestion and can make you feel uncomfortable and sleepy. Eating light and healthy meals can help you maximize your ability to concentrate. As Thomas Jefferson said, we rarely regret eating too little. It’s likely you’ll find that you need less food to satisfy yourself than you think.


A healthy mind needs a healthy body and for a body to be healthy you need to exercise. So make sure you exercise enough to be fit. If you are not healthy or physically well it’s hard to have concentration.

Take a break:

don’t work too much hard. Have a break from time to time to get fresh again for going back to work and have the concentration needed again. Mingling with nature can be a great help.

Keep practicing:

Concentration is an activity like any other. Clearly the more we practice, the better our concentration will become. We wouldn’t expect to be a strong runner without doing some training. Similarly, concentration is like a muscle, the more we exercise the stronger it becomes.
