HOW TO BE A GOOD SPEAKER
Has it happened to you that you had to speak in front of others and you felt it is the end of the world? How can we speak well and confidently?
Start your opinions with conviction:
If you really want to have a strong impact on your listeners then you should be a true believer of what you are going to say.
Don’t start your talking with “ I think…” or “ but maybe…” this kind of talking gives the impression that you are not sure of what you are saying.
Have eye contact with your listeners:
Try to have eye contact with your audience so that you know if there is any confusion with your listeners or ambiguities, so you have time to explain it to them. If you are talking to a big audience where it’s impossible to have eye contact with everybody at least do it with some group of people who are in the first rows.
Praise yourself every day:
Look at yourself in the mirror and praise yourself to boost your confidence. It doesn’t mean that you think you are perfect. Just remind yourself the accomplishments that you have had so far and how hard you have worked for that. The more confident you are the more people respect you and believe you.
Use a strategy:
To be a good speaker there are some steps you can follow to make you a good one. To become a better speaker, remember the following strategies:
Engage with your audience.
Pay attention to body language.
Think and speak positively.
Cope with your nerves.
Watch recordings of your speeches.
This will help you to improve each time.
Be familiar with the place of your speech:
If you are supposed to speak in a big place, try to visit the place before everybody else. Go around and try to get used to the place.
If you imagine anything in your mind they say it comes true, so why not imagining that you are doing great with your speech and everybody is enjoying it. Close your eyes and try to overcome any anxieties that you may have.
Other than spoken language that is used by you there is another language that has a great effect on people and that is body language. The way you appear in front of others, the way you talk all should be considered to make your spoken language acceptable.
Know your material:
Of course, the most important thing is to be ready for what you are going to talk about. Practice your speech from before so when you are actually giving it you are not forgetful about it.
Try to speak in a way that everybody can hear you. Not too loud like shouting and not to quite like you are whispering. The way you talk and sound is very important.
These were some tips helping you with any kind of speeches that you may have.
